Alzheimer's disease is a common neurodegenerative, progressive, and fatal disorder. Generation and deposition of amyloid beta (Aβ) peptides associate with its pathogenesis and small soluble Aβ oligomers show the most pronounced neurotoxic effects and correlate with disease initiation and progression. Beta amyloid 1-42 is a 42-amino acid peptide which plays a key role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer, even slightly increased amounts of this Aβ(1–42) might be sufficient to cause Alzheimer's disease (AD). |
